Virtual Open House

About the Event
Join us as we listen, to firsthand accounts from Uganda on how the pandemic has impacted communities - particularly girls and women and what Child’s i is doing to strengthen families and their communities to keep children and families safe and together.
Back in March 2020, when the government of Uganda announced the lockdown, schools, and businesses closed, and some orphanages because of overcrowding sent the children home. This rapid reintegration of children came with its own complications. Our Social work team will share how they stepped in and worked quickly with the local government and the community to ensure that children remained safe and thrived through the height of the pandemic.
We will also hear from young care leavers, who have recently started their journey of independence finding their way in the world outside of an orphanage.
Susan Ajok, our newly appointed Country Director who like many leaders in her position is having to work hard and very fast, will give us an update on her first 30 days in the post and share some of her plans for the future.
Open House is a space that we have created for you, our community, to listen and learn how your contribution is making a difference, but we’d also like to hear from you too so, this time around, you can turn your camera ( if you’re happy to) and unmute yourself. Bring along your stories and questions, and don’t forget a warm cup of tea!
