About the Event

Mark your calendar and join us at 5pm on Wednesday, 29 September for an informative discussion on the importance of mental health and wellbeing, and how we are working closely with communities in Uganda to support children, families, and young people to raise awareness, inspire action and build resilience.

You will hear from our experienced social workers about the role of psychosocial support in strengthening families and communities. Listen to firsthand experiences from young people that we are supporting to transition out of orphanages and their journey of navigating independent living.

Our Country Director Susan Ajok will introduce a new project we have recently launched in collaboration with Grand Grand Challenges Canada / Grands Défis Canada and NIHR delivered in partnership with Makerere University, and Uganda Care Leavers Association to equip young people with lived experience of care with the life skills and knowledge to recognise and be aware of their well being and to become well being champions who support other young people in their communities to have good mental health and well being.

Open house is a space created for you, our community, to learn about how your contribution is making a difference and share your thoughts too. This event will be run as a meeting and you will have a chance to turn your camera on (if you’re happy to) and unmute yourself.
