By regularly giving you’ll be helping to support our children as well as enabling us to reach out to young women to try to stop baby abandonment in the first place. We ask for £10 a month, but please give whatever you can afford.
Each of our cots costs approximately £300 per month to keep our babies in a safe, caring environment. Your sponsorship will help run the Malaika Babies Home allowing us to give the best possible care and protection to each and every child.
Our aim is that you will be able to get to know the babies living in our cots and follow their progress. We will send you a regular newsletter to keep you updated.
Here is an approximate breakdown of what your monthly sponsorship will go towards once we are fully operational with 24 children in our care (with a staff ratio of 1 staff to 4 children)
- £5 – Admin and stationary (to keep good records including care plans, exit strategies and mobile phone costs)
- £5 – Transport costs (to and from hospitals, picking up abandoned babies)
- £25 – Baby supplies (wet wipes, nappies, vaseline, sudocrem, clothes, blankets, sheets)
- £20 – Medical bills (lab tests, hospital visits, medication and in patient care)
- £25 – Staff meals (we like to look after our local staff and give them a healthy meal a day)
- £35 – Family Placement costs (to find our babies loving homes)
- £45 – Utilities (rent, electricity, water, security, cleaning products)
- £65 – Milk formula and food for our children
- £75 – Staffing (around the clock carers, nurses and a cleaner, cook and driver)
Any additional sponsorship funds will be used to support new initiatives for prevention, supporting families and finding long-term solutions to the issue of abandonment.
