Hello everyone – I’m Perle, and I’d like to introduce myself as your new fundraising coordinator. I will be holding the fort at home while Lucy and the team head to Uganda next week to set up the amazing Abandonment Project, and I don’t mind telling you I’m thrilled and terrified in equal measure!
I’ve been with Child’s i Foundation for the last three months, and what a ride it’s been so far – quite literally! I started by completing a 100km bike challenge, before going on to project manage our Buy A Brick launch and a grand UFU in London, alongside Lara Gordon and a fantastic team of volunteers.
From here on in, though, my main responsibility will be to coordinate fundraising through sports events, UFUs and community events. Taking over from Lucy will be a tough job, as she seems to have been born with some kind of superwoman gene, but I know with all the love the Child’s i community gives, I’ll be just fine!
Now, as I know we’re all about transparency here, I’m going to open up and tell you a few facts about me…
I over-react when I see a famous person: For example, Douglas (aka Matt Berry) from the IT crowd came into the pub where I work recently. As I’d spent the whole weekend watching the show, I became flushed with excitement and rushed over to ask for his autograph. I saw him on the street the next day – I smiled, he looked the other way…
Party Trick: I can hula-hoop and drink a pint at the same time
I have travelled/visited/lived in over 20 countries.
I love fancy dress, and my repertoire has included: Smurf, Naughty Nun, Cheerleader, Clown, Fire lady, Cleaner…
My two favorite places in the world are Bodmin Moor in Cornwall and Lago Atitlan in Guatemala.
Can’t think of any more right now, but I’m sure more of the truth will out in time. So that’s me, and I’m so looking forward to catching up with more of you over the next few months. My first job is going to be setting up an exciting 2010 calendar of events with our fundraising team of volunteers so keep your eyes peeled…..
