We want to wish our incredible supporter Julien Buckley the best of luck on his 2800 mile solo cycle ride on behalf of Child’s i Foundation. He leaves from his home in London tomorrow, 9th June – this is his journey from London to Nordkapp and then on to Tromso in Norway.
From Julien:
I will be cycling from my home in London, to Dover where I shall take a ferry across The Channel to Calais. From here, I will cycle by the North Sea for a thousand miles, passing through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Denmark. Crossing Denmark, I will then catch a ferry across the Baltic Sea, over to Sweden. Once in Sweden, I will cycle the length and breadth of the country, right up to the Finnish border, on the other side of the Arctic Circle. Passing into Finland, I will continue north to Norway, with Nordkapp, the most northern mainland point in Europe being my finishing point, where I hope to see the midnight sun.The final leg of the journey will be a further 4 days south west, to Tromso, known as the Paris of the North, where I shall board a plane and fly my weary bones home by mid July. All said and told; during this 6 week cycling extravaganza, I will cover over 2,800 miles, through 8 countries.
I have been in touch with the Norwegian Tourist Board, who has been extremely helpful. They have given me loads of excellent contacts and have offered to organising all of my travel and accommodation needs in Tromso, including paying for my return flight home. In fact, my contact in Tromso will organising some press interviews for when I hopefully arrive in 5-6 weeks time.
We’re exhausted just thinking about it. Thanks so much Julien for organising this incredible journey and we will support you all the way.
